Old JSA Sequential Part 1

This is when I started drawing again back in 2002.

My daughter was 2 and the chaos of the 'new life' slowed down a bit and all of a sudden I just have 'free time'.

I'm glad I picked up the pencil instead of a beer can ;)

G.I. Joe - Ideals

Here's my contribution for the project called G.I. Joe Battlespace.

This is a rough draft for the page.

I'll post the progress here in my blog, from inking to coloring to lettering.

Here's what I currently have in mind.

Aquaman!

I was watching SuperPowers on youtube yesterday and was inspired to do this!

I don't know why, but I have a strong affinity for the fish guy!

Nightfist #2 Unused Cover

I was gearing up for the 2nd issue of my webcomic Nightfist when I made this cover.

This issue was supposed to take the character in whole new direction. Instead of a free wheeling street vigilante, he would be more like a controlled government agent working for a clandestine group that might not be what they represent.

How he would be coerced to work for such a group would be the focal point of the story.

But of course, things happen in life and this project got abandoned.

I might still get around this someday though. Never say never.

The Nightfist will live on in some other form or what, you can count on that :)

Exiles: Sabretooth in Color

Ok, quick color and I'm off to bed.

Nighty night everyone.

Exiles: Sabretooth

I'm rediscovering Jim Calafiore's work.

I'm looking at his Exiles work and there's some really fun stuff there.

I really like his rendition of Creed. Very simple and effective line work. and of course, I had to give it a stab.

I made a quick sketch on my notebook. I hope you guys like it :).

I'm gonna make a colored version before the sandman taketh me.

Demon!

I just read Action Comics #587 and was inspired to draw the Demon who guest starred on that issue.

Brilliant art and storytelling by John Byrne.

This issue was truly an old gem.

~JOe

G.I. Joe: Colonel Courage

Saw the Col. at the mall.

That inspired me to do this piece.

New Titans Trading Cards!

I combined my love for the old Wolfman-Grummett "New Titans" and my exploration of Art Cards.

I'd like to add a couple more from that series like Jericho, Wildebeest, Pantha, Arela, Gar, Danny Chase and Troia.

Then it's onto Doom Patrol v2 with Arani and the gang.

Then a possible Action Force or G.I. Joe series just to scratch that itch XD

I'd be selling some of these on eBay.

~JOe

Hercules vs Doc Ock

From an unfinished Avengers project.

I'll post the other 3 pages when I find them.

Thanks for looking!

~JOe

Killraven!

Future Killraven that is!

I love this version where he is the Leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. I just had to draw him!

I also love Hollywood (future Wonder Man).

~JOe

G.I. Joe: Bushido BW

Saw a motherlode of these on the mall at 3 bucks a pop.

I had to control myself not to fall of the wagon.

As a therapy, I immediately went home and did a sketch.

It worked pretty well :)

Avengers #218

An old sketch.

Trick Arrow

I need a bowman for my universe so I came up with this.

Not sure about the color scheme though. I think it's too Speedy/Arsenal. Oh well, we'll just see on the final draft.

Trick Arrow will make his first appearance on Rock Em Sock' Comics Presents #3.

Salamat!

~JOe

New Titans: Speedy

I'm on a New Titans nostalgia trip theses days. Here's Speedy.

~JOe

New Defenders

I love this iteration of The Defenders team.

I love the stories and interaction between the characters, masterninded by J.M. DeMatteis.

I especially love Don Perlin's style on this book. Not the house style he did during his early works.

~JOe

Wolverine: Tigress

This was the first piece of sequential I ever created from a fan fiction script.

I was practicing on my sequentials back, then just drawing up scenarios. I really hate my contrived plots and dialouges so I thought "Why not find a good script on the web? "

And that's where I discovered the wonderful world of fan fiction . Abundant with superhero stories, it's like shopping for scripts!

Most are written in prose so it really exercises your brain on how to represent it in comic form.

And that's what started me on this path. It's an addicting hobby (making sequentials that is). And I never stopped since.
